Description

The dual forces of love and death, held in equal balance. In the Victorian era, hand-carved cameos depicted those who had passed to the next world or figures from antiquity — Persephone's shows both. Transiting back from Hades' domain, she is classically rendered, holding a skull and pomegranate to symbolize her duality as Goddess of spring and Queen of the Underworld. Meticulously carved from white or black mother of pearl, this piece continues one of the world's most time-honored jewelry traditions.
