WOOL BALLCAP HONORING THE 1955 ESCOGIDO LEONES History: In the winter of 1955–56, the Leones del Escogido transformed from perennial contenders into champions. Playing in Santo Domingo’s young professional baseball era, Escogido finished 35–18 before meeting the Águilas Cibaeñas in a seven-game championship battle. Managed by Frank Genovese, the club combined Dominican talent with experienced players from across the Caribbean baseball world, delivering the first of three straight league titles. The victory marked the beginning of an era when the red uniforms of Escogido became a symbol of Dominican baseball excellence.
