This collection was largely inspired by the Civilian Conservation Corps that was established by FDR to give young men jobs during the Great Depression. The CCC planted millions of trees across the country, as well as help create and sustain infrastructure and conservation of the National Parks, building trails and bridges we still use today. We hadn’t ever seen, nor have really seen since, such a project aimed at the conservation of nature and appreciation for the outdoors. The young men and officers were housed both in camps and the outdoors for months at a time, relying greatly on the clothes they would wear, while having vastly different articles of clothing. We like to think both parties’ wardrobes are represented through Wythe’s interpretation in this collection. Cotton Sweatshirts were first used as athletic garments in the 1920s and 30s and always featured full length ribknit cuffs and hems, and V-shaped inserts in the neckline. The Wythe Sweatshirt stays true to these details, and adds a subtle curve into the V insert (lovingly called "Doritos" by some vintage aficionados) that gracefully matches the curve of the neckline. Our crewneck sweatshirt has been a Wythe staple from the very beginning and was one of our earliest products. White we really loved the slimmer, athletic fit of our original sweatshirts, we figured we'd listen to the overwhelming majority of feedback.
