Description

The Humpback (1993) is a wildlife documentary featuring marine researchers Deborah Glockner-Ferrari and Mark Ferrari as they study humpback whales in the waters surrounding Maui, Hawaii. Featuring underwater footage and observations gathered through decades of research, the program explores humpback whale behavior, including mothers caring for their calves, competition among males and the social interactions of these marine mammals. The documentary also highlights the researchers' pioneering techniques for identifying and studying individual whales.
