Description

THE SHIRE™ Silver Two Shillings Each coin is 8 grams (1/4 troy ounce) of solid .999 silver. 1.15 in (2.9 cm) diameter. Four Two Shillings from The Shire struck in 1/4 troy ounce of .999 pure silver. Each denomination of Shire coinage has 4 variations featuring different trees. This four tree group contains all four possible trees: pine, elm, willow, and oak. Coin text is inscribed in Tengwar. Designed and engraved by Greg Franck-Weiby. These are exceptionally beautiful coins, and they feel like MONEY, the way everyday US coins don't. They're also pretty expensive for a toy, and I'd be worried about losing one if I pulled them out at a renfaire; but if you treat them instead as a work of art, to be admired and enjoyed both visually and tactilely, they're just the sort of extravagant indulgence a well-to-do Hobbit might enjoy.
