New York Cosmos A-Frame Cotton Twill Ballcap

Description

STRUCTURED A-FRAME SNAPBACK HONORING THE NEW YORK COSMOS History: In June 1975, a 34-year-old Pelé came out of retirement to debut for the New York Cosmos, scoring before 21,278 fans while 10 million watched on CBS. The Cosmos he joined were near the bottom of the North American Soccer League, practicing on a rocky patch of Randall's Island. Warner Communications soon changed that, bankrolling a roster that added Giorgio Chinaglia from Lazio, Franz Beckenbauer fresh off the 1974 World Cup, and Carlos Alberto of Brazil's 1970 champions. By '77, Giants Stadium was averaging 42,689 fans a game, the Cosmos had their Soccer Bowl title, and Pelé's eternal star power had put American soccer on the map. This cotton twill ballcap was designed with a retro A-frame silhouette, giving it a structured crown, a 5-panel construction, a pre-shaped bill, and a classic snapback closure. The Cosmos logo was applied with flat embroidery, honoring the team (and the star) that brought about a boom era in American soccer.
