WOOL BALLCAP HONORING THE 1926 MISSION BEARS History: In 1926, the Vernon Tigers pulled up stakes and moved north to San Francisco, where they became the Mission Bears and shared the city with the established Seals. The Bears finished third with a 106–94 record in a Pacific Coast League season that stretched to 200 games. Their name, however, lasted just one season. A dispute with the University of California over the use of its bear identity and blue-and-gold colors helped bring the experiment to an end; the club became the Mission Bells in 1927. The Bears’ brief Bay Area chapter remains a distinctive footnote in San Francisco baseball history. Made from genuine wool broadcloth with a felt appliqué logo and our signature green satin underbrim, this hat is inspired by the on-field uniform worn by the 1926 Mission Bears.
