MESH JERSEY HONORING CAL RIPKEN JUNIOR'S TIME WITH THE CHARLOTTE ORIOLES History: Before Cal Ripken Jr. became the Iron Man — before the 2,632 consecutive games, the two MVPs, the World Series ring, and the Hall of Fame plaque — his manager at the Charlotte Orioles made a bold prediction heading into the 1980 season: Ripken would break the team's all-time home run record. He did exactly that, slugging 25 home runs to shatter the previous mark by four, while also making the Southern League All-Star team and helping Charlotte win the championship. The Orioles called him up the following year. Made from a breathable knit mesh with a sturdy hand-feel and a tackle twill appliqué logo, this jersey pays homage to the time Cal Ripken Jr. spent with the Charlotte Orioles minor league team.
