AUTHENTIC BOSTON RED SOX SHAWL COLLAR CARDIGAN History: The Boston Red Sox debuted their iconic “hanging socks” logo in 1924. Perhaps they thought it would give the team a fresh start after Babe Ruth, who they sold to the New York Yankees in 1920, led his new squad to a World Series in 1923. Whatever the reason, the logo stuck. It has been a part of the BoSox look ever since — all the way through the 85 year Curse of the Bambino to their 2004 World Series win and on to today. A tribute to the 1924 Red Sox made from heavyweight alpaca and wool blend yarn with the iconic hanging socks logo on the front, this shawl collar sweater is inspired by real 1920s team cardigans worn by major league ballplayers for a period-accurate piece that will stand the test of time.
