This is the first belay device I've purchased. I've used other devices going back to 8 plates and ladder racks. This is easy to use and provides a lot of friction. It's almost too much when belaying my 60 lb child, but it's fine. I like the shape makes it difficult to load incorrectly. Seems to be made well and think I will get a lot of milage out of it.
